Detailed Itinerary of Cultural Tour of North India

Day 01 –Arrive Delhi

Arrive Delhi – The national capital of India. On arrival we will receive you at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02 – Delhi

After breakfast we would take you for a full day sightseeing of Delhi covering Laxmi Narayan Temple - a modern Hindu temple devoted to Goddess Laxmi and Narayana, India Gate - is located on Raj Path in New Delhi, Parliament House, Jama Masjid – largest mosque in India,Red Fort,  Gandhi memorial, Humayun Tomb, Qutub Minar. In the evening return to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 03 –Delhi / Varanasi(By Air)

Today board the flight to Varanasi.Arrive and get transferred to the hotel. In the afternoon take an excursion to Sarnath - about 10 km from the sacred city of Varanasi, is the place where Buddha chose to deliver his first sermon. There are many Buddhist monuments and structures in Sarnath. Some of the significant Buddhist monuments at Sarnath are the Dhamekha stupa, the Chaukhandi stupa and monasteries and temples. Numerous Buddhist structures were raised at Sarnath between the 3rd century BC and the 11th century AD, and today it presents the most expansive ruins amongst places on the Buddhist trail. The Ashoka pillar of Sarnath is the National emblem of India. Also visit SarnathMuseum - Numerous sculptures, arts, and other artworks on Lord Buddha are stored in the Museum of Sarnath. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04 –Varanasi

Varanasi's principle attraction is the string of bathing ghats, which line the western ghats of River Ganges, enjoy boat ride early morning. After breakfast visit the Ghats, Tulsi Manas Temple, Alamgir Temple, Bharat Mata Temple. Later free to roam about.Overnight at the hotel

 

Day 05 –Varanasi / Khajuraho (By Air)

Today board the flight to Khajuraho. Arrive and get transferred to the hotel. Check in the hotel. Evening free to relax & explore on your own. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06 –Khajuraho

 

Today enjoy the sightseeing trip to the Eastern & Western Group of Temples.

Western Group: These groups of temples are completely Hindu, and represent some of the finest examples of Chandela art at its peak.

KandariyaMahadeo Temple- devoted to Lord Shiva. It is said to be the largest temple with 31 m high beautiful image of Lord Shiva which is overwhelming. Chaunsath Yogini – the earliest temple was built in 900 AD. It is made of granite & dedicated to Goddess Kali. The Chitragupta Temple is dedicated to the Sun God. The Vishwanatha Temple has some ancient sculptural details and within the shrine has a wonderful marble Shivalinga as well as a three-headed image of Brahma - the Creator of the Universe. The Lakshmana Temple is superbly decorated, while the Devi Jagdambi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali.

Other temples in the Western Group include the Varaha Temple with a nine-foot high boar-incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the Matangeshwara Temple with a eight-feet high lingam. In the South part of the temple it has an open air Archaeological Museum, which has a gorgeous displayed compilation of statues and friezes collected from the remains of long vanished temples.

Eastern Group: Situated near the village of Khajuraho, the Eastern Group of temples consists of the well-known temples like Brahma, Vamana and Javari. The group further includes Ghantai, Adinath and Parsvanath (Jain pilgrims) that are located near the Khajuraho Sagar.

Adinatha TempleThis temple is richly ornamented with delicate and pretty sculptures including those of yakshis. It is dedicated to the first Jain tirthankara (saint), Adinath and the Parsvanath Temple, the largest Jain temple, of the Eastern group. Parsvanath temple is devoted to Lord Parsavanath, the temple is ornamented with picturesque sculptures & has intricate stone carvings. GhantaiTemple- aJain temple famous for its astonishing frieze. This frieze depicts the 16 dreams of Lord Mahavira's mother in conjunction with a multi-armed Jain goddess mounted on a Garuda. Hindu Temples - Amongst the Hindu temples, the Brahma temple, the Vamana temple and the Javari temple are the renowned shrines in the eastern group.

Day 07 –Khajuraho/ Orchha / Jhansi / Agra

Morning drive to Jhansi enroute visiting Orchha. Orchha was founded by former Bundela chief Rudra Pratap Singh in 16th century. It is renowned for its graceful monuments, which exhibit unique and exclusive architectural magnificence. Visit Jehangir Mahal - built by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo in the 17th century to honor the visit of Emperor Jehangir to Orchha. Raj Mahal - located to the right of the courtyard was built in the 17th century by Madhukar Shah. The simple exteriors, crowned by chhatris, give way to the interior of Mahal with wonderful murals, stronglycolorful on a range of religious themes.  RamRaja Templean extraordinary temple, it is well known for its elevated spires and lavish architecture. ChaturbhujTemple - Built upon a huge stone platform and reached by a steep flight of steps, the temple was especially constructed to preserve the image of Rama that remained in the Ram Raja Temple. One can also visit LaxminarayanTemple& Phool Bagh – a garden

 

Later transfer to Jhansi railway station to board the shatabadi train to Agra. Arrive and check in the hotel. Overnight at hotel.

After breakfast we would take you for a full day sightseeing of Agra which will include Taj Mahal – constructed by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in remembrance of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj has continued to be a mark of love since ever, Red Fort - is positioned in Agra, on the banks of Yamuna River. It is known as Red Fort because it is built of a kind of red sandstone. You can also visit inside some of the most beautiful structural designs of the Mughal Period PearlMosque, Moti Masjid, Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-i-Am and Jahangiri Mahal. Also visit Itmad-ud-Daula's Tomb – It was built much earlier than Taj Mahal in 1622 A.D.The tomb is of particular importance since many of its design outshine the Taj. Later dropped to the hotel to enjoy on your own. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 09 –Agra/ Jaipur

Morning drive to Jaipur enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri, Jama Masjid / The Buland Darwaza / Palace of Jodha Bai / Birbal Bhawan and Panch Mahal. On arrival at Jaipur which is also recognized as pink city of Rajasthan and actually the first planned city of India. On arrival check into the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 10 –Jaipur

 Enjoy full day excursion to Amber Fort, starting with a joy ride on an Elephant. Visit Sheesh Mahal inside also known as 'Palace of Mirrors' it is one of the most impressive sights in the Amber Fort. Later visit CityPalacewhichwas constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. It also house a sequence of gardens, courtyards and buildings with a mix of Rajasthani & Mughal architecture, Jantar Mantar - the royal Observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh, also drive past Hawa Mahal - the Palace of Winds - and the Bazaar etc.

Day 11– Jaipur – Jodhpur

Today morning drive to Jodhpur - The Sun City. Arrive and check in at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 12– Jodhpur

Take a full day city excursion covering Mehrangarh fort located at a distance of 5 km from Jodhpur. It is one of the largest forts in India. It is also the most magnificent fort in Jodhpur, infact, in the whole Rajasthan which is situated on a 150 m high hill. It was established by Rao Jodha in 1459. Seven gates have to be crossed to reach the fort. Other attractions of Mehrangarh Fort, Rajasthan include several palaces inside the fort, with their extensive and huge courtyards. One of the fort's palaces, The Moti Mahal or the Pearl Palace has a gracefully carved stone screen and treasures the Sringar Chowki, royal throne of Jodhpur & elegantly adorned ceilings and walls, with delicate latticework on the windows. Phool Mahal or 'Flower Palace’ -The Jodhpur Coat of Arms is reserved in the Phool Mahal. Walls of this Flower Palace are covered with paintings illustrating various musical moods. Jhanki Mahal - the residence from where the zenana women would watch ceremonial proceedings. Sheesh Mahal – Hall of Mirrors – It’s mirror-work includes large, regular pieces, rather than an intricate mosaic of tiny fragments; another variation is the superimposition over the mirror-work of brightly painted religious figures made in plaster. We will also take you to Jaswant Thada which lies adjacent to Mehrangarh Fort and The 19th century royal cenotaph, a creation in white marble. It houses pictures of successive rulers. Visit Clock tower – The timely wealth of Jodhpur. Later shop for exquisite handicrafts including the famous embroidered shoes, antiques, as well as Bandhini or tie and dye fabrics. Overnight stay at the hotel in Jodhpur.


Day 13 –Jodhpur – Ranakpur - Udaipur

In the morning drive to Udaipur en route visiting Ranakpur temples - The exceptionally beautiful ranakpur complex situated 60 km north of Udaipur, is one of the largest and most important Jain temple in India. The enormous structure of the temple is exclusively raised in light color marble. The main temple is the ChaumukhaTemple, or Four-Faced Temple, dedicated to Adinath was constructed in 1439. The multifaceted structure of the temple has four separate entrance doors to penetrate in the chambers. These chambers lead to the main hall or 'Grabh-Griha', where the idol of Lord Adinath is positioned. Over 1444 pillars support this huge structure and it is surprising to know that every single pillar is carved gracefully and not one pillar resembles the other. Within the complex are two other jain temples devoted to Neminath and Parasnath and, a little distance away, a Sun Temple & Amba Mata Temple is also located.

Day 14 –Udaipur

Morning excursion to the city covering City Palace - A regal architectural wonder located over Lake Pichola, it is an accumulation of courtyards, pavilions, terraces corridors rooms and hanging gardens. They all are built at different time beginning from 1559 A.D. The balconies of the palace provide splendid view of "Jag Niwas" or Lake Palace hotel, Jag Mandir on one side and on the other the city of Udaipur. JagdishTemple – located in the city palace complex, is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and can be approached by a broad flight of steps, Fateh Sagar Lake - A gorgeous lake which is overlooked by a number of hills on the three sides and the Pratap Memorial on its north side which was constructed by Maharana Fateh Singh. In the middle of the lake is Nehru Park - a lovely garden island with a boat shaped cafe reachable by an enjoyable boat ride, later visit Saheliyon-Ki-Bari also known as garden of maids - queen's resort for her friends and Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandir - Folk Art Museum which exhibits the brilliant collection of folk articles of Rajasthan varies from typical rural-dresses, ornaments, puppets, masks, dolls, folk musical instruments, folk deities and paintings. Overnight at the hotel.


Day 15 –Udaipur – Delhi

Today dropped to the airport for flight to Delhi, on arrival in Delhi transfer to the international airport for flight to home country.
